Bishop’s Cleeve Platinum Jubilee Celebrations!
Bishop’s Cleeve Parish Council invites our whole community to come together in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, across the extended Bank Holiday weekend, from Thursday 2nd June to Sunday 5thJune.
We wish to celebrate our Queen’s extraordinary service to Great Britain, and at the same time memorialise our own community, its growth and change over the last 70 years.
We need your help to make this weekend the most memorable of celebrations!
There are 3 elements to our plans:
· A leather bound and embossed ‘Book ofCelebration’ will be made available in our Parish Office on Monday 30th May – Wednesday 1st June and then in the Community Building, Tobyfield Road on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd June – we will be asking everyone to pop in and write a sentence or two in celebration of the Queen’s reign and what her service to our country means to you.
· A ‘70 years of Cleeve’ photographic exhibition will be free to view in our community building on Thursday 2nd –Friday 3rd June, for which we will be asking for everyone to submit photos for this exhibition very soon!
· Finally, on Saturday June 4th we will organise a celebratory parade, followed by a ‘Picnic in the Park’. This will start at 11.00am with a parade down Church and Cheltenham Road and will be followed by a community picnic on our sports field, between 12.00pm and 4.00pm. This will feature traditional village games, brass bands, cakeand tea, a beer tent, and local bands!
To pull this off we need the help of local groups and organisations!
There will be an initial planning meeting on the evening of January 26th in the Parish Offices. Anyone interested in attending should get in touch with our parish council clerk in the first instance – clerk@bishopscleeveparishcouncil.gov.uk
