On December 20th, the ParishCouncil was informed that Gloucestershire County Council (GCC) has decided tocease grass cutting arrangements with Tewkesbury Borough Council (TBC) andconcentrate on increasing the biodiversity of their land, cutting grass lessfrequently and carrying out some limited wildflower sowing.
According to the Borough Council, discussions with the County Council have been taking place throughout 2024 – however,at no point has Bishop’s Cleeve Parish Council been informed of, or includedin, these discussions – we have merely been informed of the final outcome.
As a result, the Parish Council hasreceived this information without forewarning and with insufficient detail forthe Council to be able to consider the implications to the parish. In order tobe able to better understand the consequences, we have contacted GloucestershireCounty Council and requested details of the areas which will no longer be cut. When we receive any further information we will share this.
