Statement regarding the death of Her Majesty the Queen

September 9, 2022

Statement from the Chair of Bishop’s Cleeve Parish Council It is with great sadness that we have learned the news of the death of our Monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Most of us have not known life without her as our Queen, a Queen who led the Country and the Commonwealth with a lifelong dedication to duty, the like of which we will never see again. On behalf of Bishop’s Cleeve Parish Council and all of our residents we offer our sincere condolences to her family at this very difficult time. A Book of Condolence is available in the Parish Office for residents to sign during office opening times. As a mark of respect, the Council will be flying the Union Flag at half-mast and over the coming days we will be following the national protocol to mourn Her Majesty. Anybody wishing to lay floral tributes is asked to do so at the flag pole in the Parish Garden, Church Road, Bishop’s Cleeve, but please do not leave them wrapped in paper or plastic and avoid leaving candles. Those placed outside of the designated area will be moved to the official area. All items will be removed the day after the State Funeral for HM Queen Elizabeth II. In accordance with protocol all Council meetings scheduled to take place until the 26th September have been postponed. Further details of the revised dates will be available on the Council’s website shortly. Councillor Wendy Hopkins, Chair of Bishop’s Cleeve Parish Council

The Parish Council is pleased to have received confirmation that Vistry will commence the building of the long awaited new Community Building on land off Gotherington Lane in August this year. This build is scheduled to last for 11 months meaning the new building should be available from Autumn 2023. The Parish Council has worked hard alongside Vistry and Tewksbury Borough Council for over two years to get this project to the point where we will all soon see a new community building for Bishop’s Cleeve taking shape. We want to thank all parties for working together to get this much needed new facility to the point of commencement. The Parish Council will take ownership of the new Community Building when it is completed, so if you are interested in looking at the plans or want to enquire about hiring the rooms in the Community Building from late next year, please contact the Parish Office on 01242 674440 or email clerk@bishopscleeveparishcouncil.gov.uk
