Homelands Community Building

July 12, 2022

The Parish Council is pleased to have received confirmation that Vistry will commence the building of the long awaited new Community Building on land off Gotherington Lane in August this year. This build is scheduled to last for 11 months meaning the new building should be available from Autumn 2023. The Parish Council has worked hard alongside Vistry and Tewksbury Borough Council for over two years to get this project to the point where we will all soon see a new community building for Bishop’s Cleeve taking shape. We want to thank all parties for working together to get this much needed new facility to the point of commencement. The Parish Council will take ownership of the new Community Building when it is completed, so if you are interested in looking at the plans or want to enquire about hiring the rooms in the Community Building from late next year, please contact the Parish Office on 01242 674440 or email clerk@bishopscleeveparishcouncil.gov.uk

Peter Richmond

March 9, 2022

It was with great sadness that the Parish Council learnt, on Thursday evening, of the sudden death of Councillor Peter Richmond. Peter had been a parish councillor for 23 years, having joined the Council in 1997 following a period as a member of Swindon Village Parish Council. During his time as a Bishop’s Cleeve Parish Councillor, Peter was very active and was heavily involved in bringing the Sports Field, Pavilion and Bowls Club to fruition and was then instrumental in the building of the current Parish Office and Garden. Both projects lay testament to his dedication to his community. Peter will be sorely missed by his fellow councillors, the Council staff and the community whose environment he spent many years helping to improve. The Council’s thoughts are with his family ad friends at this very difficult time.

Help with council tax for those hit by Covid

January 21, 2022

Households in Tewkesbury Borough who are in exceptional financial difficulty could be eligible for a reduction in their council tax bill. Tewkesbury Borough Council aims to reduce council tax for those adversely affected by Covid-19 and is now inviting applications to its Council Tax Hardship Fund. This reduction is a one-off discount which will be applied directly to successful claimants’ council tax accounts, reducing the amount they have to pay. Council tax payers do not need to be on low income to qualify; the only criterion is that they must have experienced financial hardship because of the pandemic, even if this was only temporary. Tewkesbury Borough Council’s lead member for finance and asset management, Councillor Robert Vines, said: “The Covid pandemic has had a devastating effect on many people's finances, so I'm very pleased that this Hardship Fund will allow us to go some way towards offsetting their losses by offering those affected a reduction in their council tax bill. "I’d encourage anyone who has been impacted by Covid to check if they are eligible for this financial help.” Applications are open now with a closing date of Sunday, 6 February. To apply for council tax hardship relief,
